Google unveiled Pomelli, an AI tool which helps small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) create scalable social media marketing content.
Pomelli uses AI to generate social assets based on a businesses’ brand identity.
The tool was created in a collaboration between Google Labs and Google DeepMind, the tech company’s AI arms.
How It Works
When an SMB inputs their website into the platform, Pomelli creates a “Business DNA” profile. This profile, generated as the tool analyses the website’s content, represents the company’s brand identity. This includes generating images, colour palettes, and tone of voice.
The AI pulls from all of the website’s content — from images to written posts.

Pomelli then constructs social campaigns based on the business profile it generated. The tool provides multiple campaign ideas, allowing the business to choose which feel best suited to its brand identity. Users can also type ideas into a prompt which Pomelli will generate.
The AI marketing tool offers a range of marketing assets to support the campaign once it has been created. These include image editing, header creation, inserting a logo, and changing the font. For example, users can edit a generated image asset with the prompt “Make background sky blue and add pasta noodles flying from the box.” The assets are optimised for growth across various channels – like social media and the company website, Google stated.
Once created, the campaigns can be downloaded and are ready for immediate use.
Pomelli was released as a public beta experiment in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand; and is available in English.
