Google Launches ‘100 Zeros’ Initiative For Filmmakers Using Its AI Tools

Google Film and TV Production

Google’s parent company Alphabet is launching a film and TV initiative for productions that use its AI and spatial computing tools, according to Business Insider.

The initiative called ‘100 Zeros’ is a collaboration with Range Media Partners, a management and production company behind the recent Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown and works with the likes of film director Michael Bay.

The tech giant plans to look for, fund, and help produce works that use and explore its own AI and computing technologies, with the goal to boost innovation and the use of these tools in film and TV production.

The move signifies the tech company moving into original entertainment content. One of the first productions is recent indie horror movie, Cuckoo, which 100 Zeros used Google tools to market the film.

Google’s AI tools will take centre stage, with the partners saying they plan to co-commission films on AI over the next 18 months, the first two films – Sweetwater and LUCID – releasing in 2025.

Alphabet, which also owns YouTube, had previously attempted to enter the original entertainment space with YouTube Originals, however this didn’t gain much traction from audiences.

100 Zeros will operate under a different business model and plans to sell its productions to popular streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon.
