OpenAI Launches New Ad Campaign Highlighting Everyday ChatGPT Use Cases

OpenAI released its first major ad campaign for its chatbot, ChatGPT, which models how the bot can be used in daily life.

The campaign first streamed during the National Football League (NFL) Primetime programme. It will run on US and UK platforms, including on TV and social media, and was created by an in-house team in partnership with Isle of Any, a creative agency based in New York.

The ad demonstrates how ChatGPT can give solutions to various situations – such as finding the perfect dinner recipe for a first date or getting a step-by-step guide on how to get started with pull-ups.

This relatable, natural approach is a departure from OpenAI’s first ChatGPT ad, which aired during the NFL Super Bowl Championships in February.

The $14 million ad showed fully digital, black-and-white iterations of historic events like the moon landing, concluding with the line, “All progress has a starting point.”

OpenAI’s latest campaign veers away from this original approach, making the chatbot feel less abstract and more human.

And in ‘Road Trip with ChatGPT’, a couple of siblings plan their road trip:

Building Ad Infrastructure

OpenAI has recently put more consideration into ads, beyond the release of a new campaign. The company recently listed a job opportunity for a growth paid marketing platform engineer. The person who fills this position will “lead a new team that will be tasked with bringing ads to ChatGPT,” Adweek reported last week.

ChatGPT currently does not display ads, and its basic version can be used for free. Integrating ads into the platform could serve as another source of revenue for the company.
